On 30th January 2010, the 6th South China Common Feeder Alliance (SCCFA) Annual Summit
was held in Haikou, with attendance of representatives from Transport Committee of Shenzhen Municipality, Shenzhen Customs, Shekou Customs, China Merchants Group, major container terminals and barge carriers of South China.
Responding to the intense competition and enormous challenges the industry faces, the summit probed into the sustainable development and the maintenance of competitive advantages of South China Shuttle Barge Service. Concept of ‘one stop barge service’ was also advanced, which will bring a new outlook of barge service in Western Shenzhen ports. Mr. Erik Yim, SCT Deputy General Manager, was elected as the chairman of SCCFA and Mr. Deng Wei as the secretary general. In addition, Universal Shipping (Asia) Co., Ltd., Chu Kong Shipping Development Co., Ltd., Xinhui Honesty International Freight Co., Ltd. and Pilot Logistics (Hong Kong) Limited and Haikou Port Container Terminal were adopted as new members of SCCFA.
After years of development, South China Shuttle Barge Service network has covered 49 ports of 20 cities with 37 regular-scheduled services, which provide customers with a more environmentally friendly, economic and efficient transit channels. With its value-added service and mature operation, South China Shuttle Barge Service of western Shenzhen port has been keeping the leading position in the market and become a golden brand of Shenzhen Port.
